Reading Series: Jeffrey Eugenides
The Margarett Root Brown Houston Reading Series, co-sponsored by Inprint and the University of Houston, continues its 24th season with readings from Pulitzer Prize winning author of “Middlesex,” Jeffrey Eugenides. 7:30 p.m., Jan. 24. Blaffer Gallery
Blaffer Gallery’s latest exhibits are Jane and Louise Wilson: Erewhon, Ant Farm 1968-78 and J. D. ‘Okhai Ojeikere: Hairstyles. Erewhon consists of a five-screen video installation and related photographic works exploring the psychological dynamic of architecture. Ant Farm 1968-78 includes blue prints, publications, documents, drawings, collages, photographs, architectural models and documentary video clips of the exhibit. J. D. ‘Okhai Ojeikere: Hairstyles, consists of 40 photographs of hairstyles from Ovibiomu-Emai, Nigeria, worn at celebrations, festivals and marriages. Exhibits run through March 5. Ambassador of Pool
The UH University Center and the UH Student Program Board bring the pool world’s number one trick shot artist and entertainer, Paul Gerni, to the UC Arbor for an hour of entertainment demonstrated on the green felt. Gerni has won the title of Professional World Champion of Artistic Pool 22 consecutive times as well as the International Challenge Cup 15 consecutive times.
