PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: ‘PITTING’ STUDENTS AGAINST FERRARI
IN PIT STOP CHALLENGE AT UH

Start your engines as the excitement of racecar competition comes to the University of Houston with the “Shell Campus Pit Stop Challenge” from noon to 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 14.

Students will compete in teams of three to perform the fastest pit stop duty of changing the tires on a 2001 Ferrari – the same car used for Formula One races – but with no motor. In addition to each team being sent a commemorative photo from Shell following the event, there will be an opportunity to win a Formula One radio-controlled 1:18-scale Ferrari at the event.

Co-hosted by the UH student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the UH Cullen College of Engineering’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, the challenge is open to all UH students regardless of major. Shell recruiters will be present to answer questions. All students interested in submitting resumes may do so at www.shell.com/careers.

“It will give students a chance to learn a little bit more about Shell, talk to recruiters and get more information while having a good time,” said Janice Quiroz, special events coordinator for the UH Cullen College of Engineering.

Pre-registration is not required, but student teams may register online at http://asme.egr.uh.edu/calendar.htm. For more information, visit the “Shell Campus Pit Stop Challenge” Web site at http://www.shell.com/home/us-en/html/iwgen/careers_recruitment/app_pitstop_challenge.html.
