Restoring a sense of safety and security across the United
States in the wake of terrorist attacks in September might
be impossible, some analysts say. But during November, The
University of Houston Forum explored many of the key issues
facing the country as it attempts to regain its footing from
the Sept. 11 events in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania
and the ongoing investigation into anthrax distribution through
the U.S. Postal Service.
"Since the terrorist attack people have raised concerns
and questions about life in the wake of these horrific events,"
said Edward P. Sheridan, senior vice president for academic
affairs and provost of the University of Houston. "The UH
Forum will offer everyone who attends an opportunity to listen
to, and participate in, a thoughtful discussion of how the
world might be shaped in the months and years ahead."
