John
J. Antel is currently Professor of Economics and Interim Dean of
the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University
of Houston. Professor Antel received his undergraduate degree in
Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley
in 1972. In 1983 he received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University
of California at Los Angeles. Before joining the University of Houston
Economics Department in 1991, Dr. Antel worked as a labor and population
studies consultant to the Rand Corporation in Santa Monica, California.
Dr. Antel served as Economics Department Chair at the University
of Houston from 1997 to 2002. He served on the University of Houston
Academic Senate Executive Committee from 1999 to 2002. Professor
Antel continues to teach and do research in labor economics, health
economics, and applied statistics at the University of Houston
