The Friends processes and scans books culled from Houston Public Library branches and donated by the community. They sell these books at our affordable quarterly book sales and all year-long on our Amazon storefront. They also recycle any damaged books through Waste Management, and offer others to local artists like the ever-creative Lee Steiner of Domestic Papers. They offer book donations to partner organizations all year long, and especially when we have a surplus of books.

For those that need transportation: We will be meeting at 9:00am in front of the Student Center South by the Help Desk. We will be leaving UH campus by 9:15 am.

Volunteers can do several things such as processing books for book sale, prepare shipping of books for online sale, and check books for damages in case some books must get recycled.

Friends of the Houston Public Library requires volunteers to wear masks. They will provide hand sanitizer, gloves, snacks, and water. You are welcome to bring your own lunch, they have a space for you to keep it. They recommend everyone wear comfortable clothing with closed toe shoes because it gets warm in the Library Warehouse.

To sign up, complete the Google Form.
