Alabama Community Garden

Volunteer at Alabama Community Garden! You’ll gain hands-on experience in gardening, while helping us grow fresh produce for families in Third Ward. Alabama is on of the oldest Houston Community Garden dedicated to alleviating hunger and its root causes in the community through food assistance, education and resources.

Volunteer Info:

  • Parking is available inside the gated area behind and beside the Target Hunger building. Carpooling is highly recommended due to our limited parking space.
  • Wear closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
  • Bring your own water, BUG SPRAY, sun block, and hats, and any item you think you may need when working outdoors.
  • There is a port-a-potty onsite
  • Any tools needed will be provided.
  • Please note that the event will happen rain or shine.

Transportation Timeline:

  1. Carpool and volunteer drivers will meet at 8:35 AM SC South Main Circle entrance
  2. Depart at 8:45 AM, arrive at the event site at 8:55 AM
  3. After the event, carpoolers will depart around 11:00 AM
