INTERPROFESSIONAL STUDENT TEAMS PROPOSE CREATIVE SOLUTIONS TO ADVANCE HEALTH EQUITY
The Humana Integrated Health System Science Institute hosted its third annual Summer Health Equity Research Program (SHERP), a platform bringing students of diverse professional backgrounds to collaborate and find creative solutions to advance health equity. This year’s topics included the use of ChatGPT to promote patient engagement, new approaches to slow diabetes progression, and disrupting current opioid use disorder treatment patterns.

HUMANA INSTITUTE DIRECTOR NAMED LAUREATE BY AMERICAN COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS
LeChauncy Woodard, M.D., M.P.H., a Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine professor and a general internist, was recently named a 2020 Laureate by the Texas Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP). The award honors fellows and masters of ACP who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in medical care, education, research, and service to their communities, chapter, and college.

HUMANA INSTITUTE RESEARCHER RECOGNIZED FOR POSITIVE AGING RESEARCH
The American Public Health Association (APHA) recently recognized Omolola Adepoju, research director with the Humana Integrated Health System Sciences Institute at the University of Houston and clinical associate professor at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, for her impactful research in the area of positive aging.
