Paule Anne Lewis, MBA, M.H.A.
Paule Anne Lewis joined the University of Houston College of Medicine as the associate vice president of business operations in August 2018. In her role, Lewis is responsible for all financial and operational aspects of the College of Medicine, including budgeting and finance, human resources, facilities planning, information technology, marketing and compliance. Lewis has a dual report to the dean of the College of Medicine and the senior vice chancellor/vice president of the University of Houston Finance and Administration department.
Lewis is a native Houstonian and has over 25 years of health care administration experience in the local market. She has worked at several of the top hospital systems in the Texas Medical Center including Houston Methodist, Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. In her community-health career, she served on several committees and led numerous collaborative projects among the safety-net clinics. Previously, Lewis served as chief operations officer at Houston Community Health Centers, a local federally qualified health center. Most recently she was president and CEO of San Jose Clinic, the nation’s largest and oldest charity care clinic, exclusively serving the uninsured.
Lewis has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA/M.H.A. from the University of Houston–Clear Lake, where she gave back as an adjunct professor from 2007 to 2012. She is a fellow of the American Leadership Forum, a care redesign thought leader for the New England Journal of Medicine Catalyst, and a member of the board of directors for the Harriet and Joe Foster Family YMCA and St. Pius X Catholic High School.
