Request Extended Length Twitter Videos

The default duration limit for videos on Twitter is 2 minutes and 20 seconds. However, Twitter has granted UH's University Marketing & Communications the ability to upload videos up to 10 minutes in length. While most successful Twitter videos are under the default limit, there are times when it may be necessary to post a longer video. Sharing a link to watch the video externally (YouTube) will result in significantly fewer views.

Should your department need to, we can upload the longer video file on our end so it can be configured to be posted from your own account. Email our team at to request a Twitter video upload.

Request Extended Twitter Video

Include the following:

  1. Video file (.mp4, .mov)
  2. Video thumbnail (.jpg, .png)
  3. Video title
  4. Call to action link (if you have one)
  5. List of Twitter usernames you'd like to share from

Once you've sent us your video's information, we will provide you with a link that has the video pre-attached so you can compose your Tweet and then share it from your account. This link will only work when logged in from an account that you listed in your email to us.
