Biography

Charles Gary Cooper is joining The University of Houston School of Theatre & Dance as a new Assistant Professor of Theatre Education.  The past three years he was with Lone Star College- Tomball where he served in several different areas.  He was the Performing Arts Center Manager, Theatre department technical director, adjunct drama professor and Art department program coordinator.  Before joining the Lone Star College System, he taught High School Theatre in the North Houston area for 20 years and served as the Theatre Department Chair for 15 of those years.  He received his Master of Education degree from Lamar University and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Tarleton State University.  He is an active member of the Texas Theatre Adjudicators and Officials organization where he serves as an adjudicator and contest manager for high school University Scholastic League One-Act Play contests.  He has been married to his wonderful wife, Diana, for 23 years as of August 24th of 2015 and has two children, David- a sophomore at Klein Collins High School, and Elizabeth- an 8th grader at Schindewolf Intermediate school.  He is excited to join the School of Theatre & Dance and get to work with the talented students and faculty within the department.
