Biography

Charles Gary Cooper is an Associate Professor in the School of Theatre & Dance at the University of Houston (Go Coogs!). He is the head of the Theatre Education program and is the Coordinator for Theatre Ambassadors.  He previously served as the Performing Arts Center Manager and Technical Director at Lone Star College-Tomball. Before moving to higher education, he taught high school theatre in the North Houston area for 20 years and served as the Theatre Department Chair for 15 of those years.  He received his Master of Education degree from Lamar University and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Tarleton State University.  He is an active member of the Texas Theatre Adjudicators and Officials organization where he serves as the organization’s Treasurer, as an adjudicator and as a contest manager for high school UIL OAP contests.  He also serves as the Board of Directors of the Texas Education Theatre Association as the Higher Education Chair.
