Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts-Convergence Research: Butterflies/Ups and Downs

Wednesday, March 29, 2023

6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us for this month’s Convergence Research featuring two exciting sessions curated by Arts Leadership Graduate Assistant Donald Rabin. Session I, “Butterflies,” is a multi-media video and sound installation created by artist Ling DeBellis and composer Sanz Escallón (BM Composition) exploring maturity, femininity, and changing perspectives. “Ups and Down,” Session II, is a collaborative experience conveying relationship, trust and balance. Klyn Lopez (BFA, Dance) and Maryann Weiss (BFA, Dance) will interact with a sculptural work made by Laura De Leon (MFA, Sculpture) set to original music by composer and University of Houston alumnus A.G. Perez.

Convergence Research is a collaboration between the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts (CWMCA) and the Blaffer Art Museum. It is a platform for experimentation and research for students and faculty of all disciplines in the McGovern College of the Arts with the goal of creating more opportunities for connection between the disciplines. Convergence Research supports interdisciplinary inquiry and techniques to stimulate creative process and cultivate works that are performative, temporary and in any stage of process.
