AURA Residency: Call & Response - Week 1

“Call and Response” is a collaboration between the School of Architecture, the Moores School of Music, and guest artists Alex Julyan (visual art) and Stephen Montague (music). Sponsored by the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts, this project is designed to create an ongoing dialogue between students in architecture and music. From October 26 to November 24, in collaboration with Julyan, an architecture studio will construct a large installation in the five-story lobby of the architecture building. In collaboration with Montague, student composers will write musical responses to each stage of the installation’s construction. Each Wednesday at 5pm for four weeks, starting October 30, AURA and other MSM musicians will perform the composer’s responses to the installation in the architecture building lobby. Architecture students will in turn construct the next stages of their installation as a response to the music. The project will culminate in a final performance on Sunday November 24 at 6pm.
