Dear Residents,
Effective immediately, the City of Houston has lifted the boil water notice that has been in place since Wednesday, February 17, 2021. You no longer need to boil water used for drinking, cooking and making ice. Water quality testing submitted to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has confirmed that tap water meets all regulatory standards and is safe to drink.
Houston Water has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of Sunday, February 21, 2021.
NEXT STEPS
We encourage you to take the following next steps:
- Flush your water system by running cold-water faucets for at least one minute.
- Clean automatic ice makers by making and discarding several batches of ice.
- Discard ice currently in ice maker.
- Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.
- Change filter in bottle filling station.
Bottled water has been distributed to each of the residence halls so visit the front desk to collect bottles for individual use.
