Dear UH Faculty, It’s hard to believe that summer classes are about to begin. Spring commencement was just a few weeks ago, and I had the pleasure of conferring degrees on many of our talented Coogs! I’d like to thank everyone who participated in these ceremonies. I know the graduates appreciated your presence, and it was great to chat with many of you during these events. Your hard work over the past semester is also deeply appreciated. Spring 2025 was a productive time, with many of you earning honors and accolades. Likewise, your efforts advanced your respective research endeavors and supported our students’ academic growth. I can’t reflect on the spring without acknowledging the changing higher education landscape in our state and the nation. State bills affecting colleges and universities are still being finalized, and we are closely following their progress as the legislative session draws to a close. In the meantime, UH continues its academic mission and works toward its goal of entering the ranks of the Top 50 public universities. I know many of you are teaching and conducting research this summer, and I am grateful for your diligence. I also hope you make time for a well-earned break before the start of the new academic year. Regardless of your summer activities, thank you again for all that you do at UH. You continue to amaze me each day and are truly making a difference in the lives of our students and our community. Respectfully, Diane Z. Chase
