So you’ve finally reached this goal you set for yourselves. For some it was a direct journey with few detours and pit stops. For others, it took much longer – sometimes you couldn’t see the light at the end of the road. But you have all made it and you are better for having finished what you set out to do.

This final UH Grad Chronicle is a recap of the most important points we have shared with you over the last few weeks. If you haven’t read any of the other UH Grad Chronicle issues – read this one!

Virtual University-Wide Commencement and College Graduation Celebrations

  • The virtual UH University-wide Commencement will be on Thursday, December 17 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Nine of the traditional colleges have also elected to hold virtual graduation celebrations on either Friday, December 18 or Saturday, December 19.
  • Virtual University-wide Commencement and Virtual College Graduation Celebrations Schedules, including event links, can be found at https://uh.edu/commencement/.
  • Individual graduate recognitions will be done at the virtual University-wide Commencement ceremony by scrolling each person’s name in a banner type format as the name is read. There will be a way for you to move forward to your college so you don’t have to listen to the complete roll call.
  • Virtual University-wide Commencement vs. Virtual College Graduation Celebrations – which one should I view? We encourage you, your family and friends to view both events. They have been created to complement each other and make for a more fulfilling commencement experience for you.
  • Information pertaining to college celebrations can be obtained by contacting your college coordinators.
  • The commencement and college celebration videos will remain available after the initial viewing times. We hope this helps in planning your family watch parties.

Grad Photo Ops

  • Please use the hash tags #UHGrad and #ForeverCoog when posting your photos on social media sites.
  • Locations and map can be found at https://uh.edu/commencement/.
  • The Photo Ops sites will be available from Monday, December 14 – Saturday, December 19, 2020, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • The photo sites have been decorated with balloons, UH banners, festive signage and/or a mock commencement stage.
  • Bring someone to take pictures for you. No need to make an appointment, but please remember to practice social distancing and wear your mask.
  • Visitor parking is available in the adjacent Welcome Center garage. Rates can be found here:
    https://uh.edu/af-university-services/parking/parking-on-campus/visitor/rates.php
  • Please remember that parking, even temporarily, in a marked fire lane is prohibited at all times.

We hope you have a wonderful graduation week. All of us on the Commencement planning committee wish you every success for your future. Remember to wear red on Fridays!

Until next time!
