Dear UH Community, Today, I am appointing Richard Walker, vice chancellor and vice president for student affairs and enrollment services at UH System and UH, to serve as interim president at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, beginning Oct. 9. Current UHCL President Ira K. Blake has accepted my invitation to serve as special assistant to the chancellor, assisting me in developing new initiatives toward student success at our four institutions. Vice President Walker brings nearly four decades of valuable experience in higher education, at both public and private institutions. His many leadership roles, as a skilled administrator and stalwart educator, reflect his commitment to students and to higher education. I am confident he will provide a steady hand at UHCL and continue the growth and progress the university has been enjoying. Here at UH, Daniel Maxwell, associate vice chancellor and associate vice president for student affairs for the UH System and UH, will be named interim vice president and vice chancellor of that division. He joined the UH division in 2012 and during the 2018-2019 academic year, he served as the Interim Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He has great depth and strength to provide leadership and administrative oversight in this interim role. I wish to thank both Drs. Walker and Maxwell for their contributions to our system and University during this period of transition. With warm regards, Renu Khator |
