Inspired by Jorge Pardo’s Folly on view in Wilhelmina’s Grove at the University of Houston, Public Art UHS presents its third annual Art on Screen Film Series featuring UMBRAL 0 x SÍNTESIS, a collection of experimental films commissioned by FICUNAM, the International Film Festival of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). This year’s screening highlights four films by Mexican and Latin American filmmakers with international recognition in the field of avant-garde cinema, and includes a Live Talk and Q+A session with FICUNAM Artistic Director, Maximiliano Cruz. Complimentary refreshments and theater concessions will be provided, and admission is free and open to the public. Advance registration is required.

PUBLIC/ATION is a special edition chapbook of creative writing by University of Houston System students inspired by the Public Art UHS collection and temporary installations. Submissions to PUBLIC/ATION will be blind juried by a panel of emerging and established writers from the University of Houston’s Creative Writing MFA Program. Submissions in English and/or Spanish will be accepted until the deadline of Sunday, April 23rd, 2023 at 11:59pm.
