Sky Juinio

Sky Juinio, Instructor

Since 2018, Sky Juinio has been coaching competitive debate teams, specializing primarily in Public Forum debate. However, her expertise extends to various other debate styles including Policy, Lincoln Douglas, Parliamentary, and Congressional formats. Under her guidance, her teams have achieved notable success, securing bids to prestigious tournaments such as TOC, qualifying for state-level competitions, and reaching elimination rounds at major national events such as Stanford and Berkeley. Sky's students consistently earn recognition as top speakers in their respective events. Academically, Sky graduated with distinction, completing her bachelor's in philosophy from UC Berkeley ahead of schedule. Currently, she is preparing for further education in law school. In her role as a lab leader at UH, Sky is enthusiastic about refining students' skills and providing an enriching experience at camp.

Evan Steinberg

Evan Steinberg, Instructor

Evan Steinberg, former debate captain at Miramonte High School in Orinda, California, led his team with distinction during his junior and senior years. Throughout his high school career, Steinberg participated in prestigious competitions such as California States (2017, 2019) and NSDA Nationals (2017, 2019), securing the top qualification spot each time with an undefeated record. His talent propelled him into late out rounds on all occasions, achieving notable placements including eighth in the state and 32nd in the nation. Moreover, he consistently advanced to elimination rounds at the UC Berkeley Invitational over four years and clinched the top speaker award at the Santa Clara Invitational.

Transitioning to college, Steinberg debated for Wesleyan University for two years, where he claimed victory at the Umass Amherst Invitational and secured 12th place at Harvard, earning speaker awards at both tournaments. With a wealth of experience, Steinberg has coached for multiple schools, contributing to the full qualification of five teams for the Tournament of Champions (TOC). Proficient in both lay and technical debate styles, he is eager to collaborate with students of all levels to help them achieve their competitive aspirations.

David Levin

David Levin, Instructor

David Levin is an incoming coach for the Speyer Legacy School in Manhattan, and brings 11 years of debate experience in Policy and PF as a competitor, judge and coach. Previously, David has coached for The Bronx High School of Science, Success Academy Charter Schools, and most recently, St. Luke’s School in Connecticut. 

In two years at St. Luke’s, David’s debaters reached 26 national circuit elimination round appearances, qualifications to the TOC, NDCA, and NSDA National tournaments, and speaker awards at Bronx Science, Glenbrooks, Carrollton, the Milo Cup, NDCA and the TOC.  In 2024, St. Luke’s broke teams to elimination rounds in the Gold and Silver PF divisions of the TOC, reaching finals in the Gold PF division and the #2 spot in the DebateDrills national PF rankings.  David takes interest in the emergence of critical arguments in PF, and questions of what constitutes the “public” in Public Forum.  Outside of debate, David enjoys birdwatching, umpiring youth baseball, and is an enthusiastic novice woodworker.

Willow Roark

Willow Roark, Instructor

Willow Roark has debated more than 20 separate topics across different formats over her 8-year debate career. In 2022, Willow presented internationally on the educational potential of debate at the International Conference on Interdisciplinary Social Sciences in Athens, Greece. She has coached students professionally in Public Forum at Climb the Mountain Speech and Debate as well as her alma mater, Mount Si High School.

Willow's competition experience includes, three seasons in NDT-CEDA intercollegiate policy debate. She was awarded, National Debate Scholar, Summa Cum Laude in 2024 by the Cross-Examination Debate Association. In 2023, she was Semi-finalist as the Val Browning Round Robin. She also competed for three seasons with the Coalition for Advocacy,Research, and Debate(CARD) where she won multiple tournaments including the Jesuit, Viking Invitational, and Minnesota College Tournament. In high school, she consistently cleared into elimination rounds in NSDA Public Forum and was a consistent finalist in expository speaking.

Sophia Dal Pra

Sophia Dal Pra

Sophia Dal Pra’s debate philosophy is that no matter a student’s background or current skill level, they deserve the best quality debate education possible. She is a current debater at the University of West Georgia. Sophia has coached multiple Policy teams, Public Forum teams, and Lincoln-Douglas debaters to outrounds at both the national circuit level and the local level.  She has also sent teams to both NSDA nationals and the TOC. As a competitor, she has qualified to the NDT twice, was a quarterfinalist at CEDA Nationals, won and reached the finals at multiple collegiate tournaments, and received the NDT-CEDA District Six Debater of the Year Award. She has also competed in international debate events, reaching the finals of Northern Caribbean University’s British Parliamentary Debate Tournament in Jamaica. Sophia has worked extensively with urban debate leagues and local NSDA leagues. Outside of debate, Sophia enjoys making music, reading, and the outdoors.
