How did Homecoming help your career?
"I learned a great deal from being a student leader at UH. Everything from interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to event planning and budgeting. Being a student leader is what exposed me to DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging) work and higher education as a profession. All of my career decisions can be tied back to what I learned as a student leader."
Best Memories?
"My favorite memories are connected to my time spent with the organizations I was involved with. There are truly too many to count, but the celebration week/events for the opening of the TDECU stadium is something I am always very fond of."
How do you stay connected?
"My mother actually works for the University of Houston (24 years!!!!) so in a way I am always kept up to date on what's happening."
Advice for Student Leaders?
"The best advice I would give is to be curious and push yourself past the comfort zone. Things might feel serious right now then but it's all a learning experience. Each person you interact with will add to your knowledge and growth. You just have to be open to reflecting and being uncomfortable."
