Luncheon Panelists

 Please join the University of Houston Hobby School of Public Affairs on May 2, 2017  for a luncheon featuring leading journalists discussing President Trump's first 100 days in office. 

 

Tim CarneyTimothy P. Carney is the commentary editor at the Washington Examiner, a visiting fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, and the author of two books. Tim was a 2012 Pulliam Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Hillsdale College and he sits on the board of visitors for the Institute for Political Journalism. 

A protégé of the late columnist Robert Novak, Tim was senior reporter at the Evans-Novak Political Report and became editor when Novak retired in 2008. His work has appeared in the Wall Street JournalNew York Post, and many other publications. He is author of Obamanomics (2009) and The Big Ripoff (2006), which won the Templeton Enterprise Award from the Intercollegiate Studies Institute and the 2006 Lysander Spooner Award for the "best book on liberty." Tim is a native of Greenwich Village and an alumnus of St. John's College in Annapolis. He now lives in the D.C. area with his wife and six children.

David JacksonDavid  Jackson, a White House correspondent for USA TODAY, has been a professional journalist for more than 35 years. A native of South Carolina, Jackson has worked for newspapers in Rock Hill, S.C., Orangeburg, S.C., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Dallas as well as USA TODAY. Jackson came to Washington in 1995 to work for the D.C. bureau of The Dallas Morning News, covering the Justice Department, the Supreme Court, and legal issues surrounding the Clinton administration. He moved to USA Today in 2005 and has covered the Bush, Obama, and Trump administration. Jackson has a degree in history from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C., and a masters in journalism from Northwestern University.

Addby PhillipAbby Phillip is a White House correspondent for the Washington Post and a former national political reporter covering Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential run. Before that, she was a staff writer on the Post’s general assignment reporting team. Before joining The Post, she was a digital reporter for ABC News in Washington, covering politics, and an ABC News Fellow in New York. She has written and produced stories for ABC News programs including This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Nightline and ABC News.com. She began her journalism career as a White House reporter and blogger for POLITICO. She is a graduate of Harvard University.

Julie MasonJulie Mason is the host of SiriusXM Radio's Press Pool with Julie Mason, heard nationwide weekdays from 3-6 p.m. ET. Before joining SiriusXM, Julie was a White House reporter at POLITICO, the Washington Examiner and the Houston Chronicle.

Julie has nearly 30 years of experience covering local, state, and national politics, including four presidential campaigns.

She is a former elected board member of the White House Correspondents Association and appears on CNN, FOX News, MSNBC, NPR, and more. She was a 2014 recipient of the Gracie Award from the Alliance for Women in Media for outstanding achievement as a radio talk show host.
