Fiesta Live! March 29th to April 2nd

Hello and welcome!

We know this year has been a whirlwind for all, and that many questions about the status of Frontier Fiesta is at our doorstep. As always, we are committed to creating a positive and safe experience for all attendees and student safety remains a top priority. This year, we are adhering to all CDC Guidelines and following University protocols in the planning of our programming initiatives. After many great conversations and a lot of work, the Frontier Fiesta Association is proud to announce a new and interactive week of events for all to enjoy named, Fiesta Live!

During Fiesta Live!, the entire UH community will enjoy seven unique events in five days! On Monday we will have, A Night to Remember with painting and live performances. Tuesday there will be a colorful Splash Zone with colored water spraying and protective gear. Tuesday night the Council for Cultural Activities will be hosting a Loteria Night as part of Cultural Fiesta! On Wednesday, there will be a collaboration with the Metropolitan Volunteer Program where you can paint succulent pots and bring home your own plant friends, as well as a Western Cooking Class where you can follow along live or enjoy later at your leisure. Thursday night there will be virtual game rooms with activities such as escape rooms, psychic readings and caricature art. On Friday, we will end the week with the University's first double feature Drive-In movie featuring the movies, Tenet and Soul. All events are free and open to the UH community.

On behalf of the Frontier Fiesta Board 2020-2021, we thank the entire UH community for their support as we create an event during these trying times. We thank the Frontier Fiesta Board 2019-2020 for their hard work that has not gone unnoticed. We all look forward to celebrating Fiesta Live! as we navigate through the current climate. COVID-19 Safety

As a board, we are making safety a top priority for our beloved UH tradition and have used these past couple of months to ensure that a form of Frontier Fiesta is still provided for our UH community. We are confident that this temporary detour from the traditional Frontier Fiesta will give students something memorable to look forward to this spring.

Thank you all for your dedication, support, and patience as we plan a safe event.

Fiesta Scholarship

In the 1940s an incredible event began at the University of Houston. Students, campus organizations, and community businesses gathered their expertise and talents to build an event that attracted as many as 100,000 people to the UH campus.

Over seventy years after the festival began, the University of Houston continues to invite the community to join in the celebration. Frontier Fiesta showcases everything that makes the University of Houston important to Texans — talented and diverse students, dedicated, world-renowned faculty, and support for higher education in Texas.

Each year, the Frontier Fiesta Association rewards multiple $1000 scholarships to hard-working students who embrace what it means to be a coog. This year is no different! We have received so many qualified applicants and will be awarding the scholarship recipients during the week of Fiesta Live!

For more information, please contact Tobechi Dimkpa.

Variety Show

Thank you to the teams that signed up to participate. This year's variety show has been canceled in order to ensure a high-quality variety show experience and ensure the safety of the staff and participants. We look forward to returning to the regularly scheduled program next year!
