Technology

University of Houston (UH) provides a growing list of educational technologies to improve the delivery of face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. These educational technologies have been used as tools for instructors to engage students in learning activities and enhance their teaching as well. This page provides the introduction of common technologies used by UH faculty.

Canvas
Canvas is the Learning Management System supported by the University of Houston. Whether you are teaching a traditional course or totally online you will be able to use Canvas to deliver your materials electronically to your students.

Mediasite
Mediasite is a lecture-capture system created by Sonic Foundry that allows instructors to record everything they say, do, and present in their classroom. Recordings captured via Mediasite are often posted online allowing students to view them at their convenience.

Respondus
Respondus is a powerful tool for creating and managing exams that can be published directly to learning management systems or printed to paper. 

Respondus Lockdown Browser
It is a tool which locks down the computer to make testing more secure. This is an especially useful tool for labs where proctoring can assure that other means of searching for answers during a quiz do not occur.

Echo360 PointSolutions
Echo360 PointSolutions Mobile or ResponseCard (Clicker) enables the instructor to capture immediate feedback from every student at classroom.

Turnitin
Turnitin allows the instructor to check students' work for potential plagiarism by comparing it against the world's largest comparison database.
