Flipped Classroom at UH

Dr. Cristian Morosan and Dr. Mary Dawson received a Faculty Development Initiative Program (FDIP) grant for an "iPad Initiative" project. In the following video, they highlighted what the project was and how students adapted to the new roles they play within the classroom.

Dr. Morosan and and Dr. Mary Dawson shared the significance of this project.

This project radically changed the dynamic of learning in this class. We have now an opportunity to go deeper into the subject, if the students become more engaged with the material. In addition, the students have an opportunity to interact with and address more practical elements of the material, as opposed to just learning conceptually as before. The students became better team members, and definitely enhanced their creativity, leadership, communication, and overall their technical skills by engaging in this class. My own teaching was improved as I had an opportunity to distance myself from the linear structure of the PowerPoint and the corresponding lecture. By using the iPad as the main support technology I have an opportunity to use multiple tools that are complementary in illustrating the material with the students.
