1. Join the 2024 UH Faculty Conference
Jan. 12, 11:30am-7pm - Register now for the 2024 University of Houston Faculty Conference, entitled Paths for UH in the Changing Higher-Education Landscape. This university-wide biennial conference is organized by the Community and Government Relations Committee of the UH Faculty Senate and will take place in the UH Student Center South. All UH faculty are invited to attend. The conference features a lunch keynote by Jonathan GS Koppell, Montclair State University’s ninth president and a nationally recognized scholar of policy, organization, and management. There will also be afternoon breakout sessions on topics ranging from academic freedom to AI and climate change to mental health. 2. Support UH Entrepreneurs at the SURE Holiday Market
Dec. 2, 11am-2pm - Start your holiday gift gathering by shopping local! Graduates from the Stimulating Urban Renewal Through Entrepreneurship (SURE) program at the Bauer College of Business are bringing their businesses to the SURE Holiday Market on Dec. 2 from 11am to 2pm in the Student Center South. Seventy small business vendors will offer a wide variety of products and services, including skincare products, salsa, handmade jewelry and accessories, and candles. Food trucks will be in the circle drive in front the Student Center for snacks and lunch. This event is free and open to the public. Register here.
3. Participate in a Fulbright Application Workshop
Dec. 4, 12-1pm - UH Faculty Engagement and Development welcomes you to join an in depth look at the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program application process. This open forum will explore the various application components and required materials and will provide applicants a chance to ask questions live to Institute of International Education staff. Come prepared with your questions or simply listen along. Attend in-person at the Faculty Café in the Ezekiel W. Cullen Building, ground level, Room 31 or join on-line. 4. Submit a Proposal for the Symposium on Community Engagement and Experiential Learning
Proposals due Dec. 15 - The Cougar Initiative to Engage (CITE) and Honors in Co-Curricular Engagement invite submissions for the upcoming Symposium on Community Engagement and Experiential Learning, which will take place on Feb. 2, 2024, in the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion. UH faculty and staff are welcome to submit individual or group presentations about experiential learning, community engagement, or community-based research. Individual presentations are limited to 15 minutes and group presentations can be either panels or roundtable discussions, limited to one hour. Proposals are due by Dec. 15. 5. Optimize Your Benefits
Dec. 8, 12-1pm - Inform yourself about your benefits options by joining the HR Benefits Team for an open forum where you can meet members of the team and ask questions about health, retirement, and optional plans, Power Up Employee Wellness, and leave benefits.
