Nearly 160 general purpose classrooms scheduled by the Registrar’s Office will be renovated over the next six to eight years as part of a Classroom Refresh Initiative. This is the first year the program has launched and as of now, 8 general purpose classrooms have been selected to undergo renovations. The initiative is coordinated through the Facilities/Construction Management Department (F/CM) in partnership with the Office of the University Registrar and the UH Information Technology. This collaboration aims to bring forth new and improved learning experiences for students. The program will modernize and upgrade audiovisual technology as well as refresh furniture, finish upgrades, writing surfaces and other features. The goal is to improve and enhance the educational spaces to create quality learning spaces for student experiences and teaching environments for faculty. Multiple F/CM teams are involved in making this initiative a reality including Facilities Planning and Construction, Campus Construction Services and Minor In-house Construction. They are all excited to continuously create community spaces at UH that will have tremendous long term value and foster educational excellence, connectivity, and a healthy environment.
