Special Event Emergency Planning Tools
In order to properly plan for events at a venue or outdoor space on campus, the following tools have been provided to assist in the planning process. These tools will help enable a safe and comfortable event or activity hosted on the campus of the University of Houston.
Venue Tools
The purpose of the plan is to ensure the safety of the students, faculty, staff and visitors of an outdoor event in the case of an emergency. This plan is venue specific.

The purpose of the plan is to ensure the safety of the individuals participating in an outdoor event on the UH campus in the event of an emergency. This plan is event specific.

Lightning Tools
This template is intended for event organizers/departments conducting outdoor events. It provides a framework for assisting in monitoring weather conditions, establishing lightning safety procedures, and identifying potential shelter locations for participants, staff, and visitors. This plan accompanies the Special Event Outdoor Venue Plan.
The UH Weather Station provides live weather updates for the UH campus. The Weather Station provides information about recent lightning activity, including the time of the most recent lightning strike and its distance from the weather station.
