Professor Roberta Nutt Receives Award at National Summit

Roberta NuttDr. Roberta Nutt, Professor of Counseling Psychology, received the Distinguished Elder Award at the meeting of the National Multicultural Conference and Summit (NMCS) in Atlanta, Georgia (January 15th-16th).

The NMCS was begun in 1999, and meets every other year in January, to highlight multicultural psychology.  It provides a myriad of cutting edge panels, symposia, workshops, round tables, research presentations and key note speakers on multicultural psychology.

The Conference is sponsored by the American Psychological Association (APA) and hosted by the four divisions that founded the Conference.  The Distinguished Elder Award began at the first conference in 1999 and honors persons who have been pioneers in recognizing the importance of addressing multicultural issues in the field of psychology, its practice, theory, education, and training.

“The ‘Elders’ are selected based on a commitment to multicultural diversity through their research, scholarship, teaching, practice and/or advocacy. Those named are particularly honored in a ceremony that is often the highlight of the conference,” said former APA President, Dr. Melba Vasquez.
