Ph.D. Student Monica Gonzalez Receives Prestigious Scholarship

Monica GonzalezCurriculum & Instruction (Mathematics) Ph.D. student Monica Gonzalez is the proud recipient of a scholarship to attend the Psychology of Mathematics Education - North American (PME-NA) chapter's annual conference.

Gonzalez authored a paper titled Elementary Preservice Teachers’ Understanding of Equitable Mathematics Teaching, which has been accepted by PME-NA and will be published as a brief research report for their annual conference. The organization typically only grants scholarships to faculty, but Gonzalez was one of ten students chosen to also receive aid.

"Since I am in my last year in the doctoral program, I need to attend conferences so I can network and disseminate my research,” said Gonzalez.  “The scholarship from PME-NA supports me in this mission. I am very relieved that some of the financial burden has been lifted."
