New Recruiter has Big Plans for the College’s Future

Jennifer HayThe College of Education is thrilled to welcome Recruitment Manager, Jennifer Adair Hay. Hay is a University of Houston Alumna that brings 10 years of experience in event management, community relations, campaign development, program improvement, and recruitment and retention to her new position at the College of Education.

“This is a really exciting time to be in the College of Education,” says Jonathan Schwartz, associate dean of Graduate Studies at the College of Education. “As our college evolves, we need a recruiter to help spread the word.  For example, this year we have new Ph.D. programs and it is vital for us to mark our college and let people know that there is much beyond the surface.”

Hay’s mission is to bring in the best and the brightest of students to add a new advantage to the college and help mold a new generation of leaders and innovators. Along with these measures, she hopes to contribute to the diversity of the University of Houston by adding a wide range of cultures, experiences, and backgrounds to the college.

“Adding a recruiter to the team is essential in communicating the countless opportunities that lie within the college to future students,” says Brandie Cleaver, director of Communications. “Positive and effective recruiting for both graduate and undergraduate levels is essential to the success of the entire College.”

Hay plans to use past data of enrollment patterns and develop targeted recruitment strategies to attract an increased number of high academic achievers to the college.  “The valuable learning experience I received as a former UH graduate student, and my desire to assist students in accomplishing their academic and lifelong learning goals are all factors that impacted my decision to come to the University of Houston,” said Hay.

In the future, Hay hopes to recruit and engage a diverse student population ready to accept the challenges of higher education.
