Homecoming season is a thrilling time at the UH College of Education – when current students, faculty and staff join our alumni and friends to celebrate our Cougar Pride. Each day, during the week of November 2-6, COE gave students, faculty and staff a different way to be involved with the festivities. 

The main event of the week, the 5^th Annual COE Ice Cream Social, was held on Wednesday, November 4^th and was full of fun activities for all.  College of Education community members got the chance to visit a variety of booths, network, and eat lots of ice cream! 

The highlight of the Ice Cream Social was the Lip Sync Battle.  Five teams consisting of students, staff and UH Charter School children performed.  The UH Charter School children stole the show.  Please enjoy videos of the teams who participated:

COE students who participated in the Lip Sync Battle really enjoyed themselves.  James Ogundiya, a Teaching & Learning 4-8 Mathematics student who participated in two of the teams (Disney and Single Ladies) had this to say about the contest:  “It was very well planned and I loved interacting with the Charter School students and the faculty and staff. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.” And Spencer Wright, also a Teaching & Learning 4-8 Mathematics student (Team Bruce) had a great time. “It was really fun to get together with my friends and have fun singing and forget about school for a short time.”  

The COE Spirit Award was given to the Dean’s Office team for the best decorated office suite for Homecoming week.  Among the raffle winners was Teaching & Learning Special Education student, Kate Zuelke (right), winner of the "Guess How Many?" contest.

The College of Education would like to send special thanks to the University of Houston Bookstore who kindly donated prizes in order to make Ice Cream Social such a success.

Exceptional Homecoming spirit was highly encouraged during the week and the College certainly delivered!

• On Monday COE celebrated Mum Day. Coogs added to a huge mum outside Suite 160.  
• On Tuesday COE had a bake sale and collected canned goods.  All proceeds will be donated to the Houston Food Bank to celebrate Cougar Care Day.
• Wednesday was the Ice Cream Social featuring the Lip Sync Battle.
• Thursday was Photo Booth Day where Coogs took photos in front of the huge mum outside Suite 160. 
• COE also celebrated the Star Awards, a ceremony celebrating awards and scholarships for faculty, students and community members.   The event was held at the Hilton, University of Houston Thursday evening. 
• The week ended with Cougar Paw Day.  Coogs painted paws on their faces and shared the photos.
