Tweens Read Book Festival

Tweens Read Festival

Reading is always fun for TWEENS!  But, meeting the authors of their favorite books is an amazing experience that connects to tweens' love of print that form interesting stories.

The 3rd Annual Tweens Festival, scheduled for Saturday, October 19, will welcome 23 authors of books for adolescents to Houston!  Dr. Margaret Hale, Clinical Assistant Professor, serves as the Co-Director of this event and has been working since May with an organizing committee made up of teachers and librarians from numerous Houston-area school districts to make the day fun and exciting for tweens from across the Houston area.

Last year's event saw more than 700 students and parents participate.  With the addition of more authors this year, and a bigger venue, the committee anticipates upwards of 800 students, parents, teachers and librarians participating.  The event will be held at South Houston High School in the Pasadena Independent School District from 9:30-5:00 and is free and open to the public.  For more information, you may visit www.tweensread.com.
