While in college, it is important that you take into account all aspects of your well-being. Your physical well-being includes things like physical activity, nutrition and sleep – and the University of Houston offers a variety of ways to take care of yourself and be successful in and out of the classroom!

Remember – if you are experiencing a medical emergency or ever in an emergency situation, please call 911 immediately or proceed to the nearest emergency room.

On-Campus Resources

UH Student Health Center

Accessing medical care on campus is not only convenient but gratifying when one receives timely, compassionate and quality care. Our board-certified providers include family practice, internal medicine, emergency medicine, women’s, psychiatry and orthopedic trained physicians & nurse practitioners. All currently enrolled University of Houston students are eligible for services at our student health center. We connect students with other valuable resources available to them on and off campus as well. Our support staff ensures we help prioritize and address the short and long-term needs of patients. Appointments can be scheduled for all clinics by calling 713-743-5151 during regular business hours or by using the Healthy Coog patient portal for General Medicine, Women’s Health and Immunization Clinics.

We also offer immunizations and an onsite laboratory with costs for services, procedures, tests maintained at a reasonable rate. These out-of-pocket costs for any visit are greatly reduced to make it competitive and affordable. Additionally, dental services such as check-ups and cleanings, x-rays and minor procedures are available on-site. Our onsite Campus Pharmacy operates like any retail pharmacy and carries many prescription and non-prescription (over the counter) outside medications. The process is designed to deliver an expeditious and customized ezperience to all served.

  • Search by Doctor Name or Specialty, Facility Name, Clinic Name, Medical Group Name or by Category and make sure to check if provider or facility is in-network.

Telehealth Options:

  • Healthiest You: Current United Healthcare – Student Resource members and non-member students can connect with a physician by phone and/or video chat using this nationwide service. There is no out-of-pocket cost for students enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) by United Healthcare.
  • BetterHelp: A national virtual counseling service with professional licensed counselors available to you via ongoing text communications, live chat, phone or groupinars. There is no out-of-pocket cost for students enrolled in SHIP by UHC.

Campus Smiles

Located in Health 2, this office offers dental services to students, staff, faculty and the public. These include check-ups, cleaning, x-rays and minor procedures on-site. They can be contacted via (832) 380-9475. More information can be obtained via uhdentist@campus-smiles.com.

University Eye Institute

The University Eye Institute (UEI) offers ophthalmic services that range from comprehensive vision examinations, to the medical and surgical management of eye disorders. Patients are seen by highly trained optometrists and ophthalmologists, with expertise in every area of eye care. In case of an emergency involving your eyes, you may call the Ocular Diagnostic and Medical Eye Service at 713‐743‐2010 immediately. Symptoms that require prompt attention include sudden loss of vision, seeing flashes of light, unusual light sensitivity, extreme pain, and/or redness of the eye(s). Licensed practitioners are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Campus Recreation

Campus Recreation promotes health and well-being by providing quality facilities, diverse programs, and services that enrich physical, mental, and emotional health. Regardless of your individual goals, explore the vast opportunities including aquatic and fitness programs, intramural sports and sport clubs, or explore the outdoors with the outdoor adventure program. Students may access the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC) with their UH ID. Whether you prefer to work out in the CRWC or participant in one of the programs, join us to recreate, rejuvenate, and connect with your fellow Coogs.

UH Wellness

UH Wellness, located in the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center, is committed to helping students stay healthy while they are in school. From educational programs and trainings, staff consultations, and large-scale events, come learn about the dimensions of wellness and how you thrive!
