Face Coverings on Campus

How to Properly Wear a Face Covering

Wash your hands before putting on your face covering.
Put it over your 1. Nose and 2. Mouth and secure it under your 3. Chin.
Try to fit it snugly agains the sides of your face. Make sure you can breathe easily.
Keep the covering on your face the entire time you’re in public. Face coverings are encouraged especially for unvaccinated individuals, but are not required.

NOTE: As with all the guidance and protocols related to COVID-19, the University will adjust its guidance as necessary to reflect new information and findings.

The University of Houston continues to encourage the wearing of face coverings, especially for individuals who are not fully vaccinated, but following Governor Abbott’s May 18, 2021 Executive Order, face coverings are no longer required on campus.

While we move forward to address appropriate updates to our COVID-19 protocols to reflect this change, effective May 18, 2021, any UH protocol that requires face coverings will no longer be enforced.

Read Governor Abbott’s May 18 Executive Order prohibiting government entities from mandating masks.
