Dr. Ivan Puš is a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence staying at the Department of History during 2021. He received his PhD from the Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Republic, in 2018. Dr. Puš is a scholar of European nationalisms in the nineteenth and twentieth century with a focus on the Habsburg Monarchy and its successor states. He is particularly interested in the Czech-German relations and the history of the Jews in Eastern Europe. He has previously received fellowships from the University of Vienna and University of Palermo.

Dr. Puš is a co-author of Starostové. Vůdcové, nebo služebníci? Role starosty v samosprávě na příkladu Olomouce, Prostějova a Zlína na přelomu 19. a 20. století [Mayors. Leaders or servants? The role of mayors in municipal administration: The case of Olomouc, Prostějov and Zlín at the turn of the 20th century] (Palacký University in Olomouc Press, 2016). He also published several articles in Czech scholarly journals. He has been employed as Assistant Professor of History at the Palacký University since 2019.

As a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence, Dr. Puš will contribute to the Department of History and the Jewish Studies Program by teaching courses in European and Jewish history during the Spring 2021 and Fall 2021 terms.
