Kei-Mu Yi Wins the 2020 Maekyung-KAEA Economist Award from the Korea-America Economic Association

Kei-Mu Yi, M.D. Anderson Professor of Economics, wins the 2020 Maekyung-KAEA Economist Award from the Korea-America Economic Association.  The award is the highest award issued by the Korea-America Economic Association.  The Maekyung-KAEA Economist Award recognizes those members who have achieved outstanding scholarly accomplishment and significantly impactful research contributions.

Dr. Yi is an internationally renowned expert on globalization issues, especially the causes and consequences of the rise of global value chains.  He has also conducted research on the role of international trade in long-run economic growth and in structural change.

His research has appeared in top economic publications including The American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economics and Statistics, American Economic Journal – Macroeconomics, Journal of Monetary Economics, and the Journal of International Economics.

Dr. Yi is an active participant at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). Since 2016 he has been a Research Associate in two of their programs: the International Trade and Investment program and the International Finance and Macroeconomics program.
