Kia N. Johnson, PhD, CCC-SLP is an Associate Professor within the
Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of
Houston (Houston, TX). She specializes in fluency disorders, with a
specific focus on young children who stutter.

Teaching
COMD 7221: Fluency Disorders
Study of adult and child fluency disorders which focuses upon
symptomatology, etiology, assessment/diagnosis, and intervention.
COMD 1333: *Introduction to Communication Disorders*
The field of communication disorders including history of professions in
communication disorders and overview of a variety of disorder areas and
career opportunities.

Research Interests
Dr. Johnson specializes in fluency and fluency disorders, with a focus
on childhood stuttering. Her current research interests include (1)
investigating the role of bilingualism in speech disfluencies presented
by bilingual children who do and do not stutter and (2) investigating
the influences of temperamental variables on developmental stuttering in
