Monica Muñoz Martinez is a historian of race relations in the U.S. and racial violence along the U.S.-Mexico border. Uvalde is her hometown. The Uvalde massacre of May 24th is a tragedy that was centuries in the making. Dr. Martinez will discuss the long history of Juan Crow policies and border policing that shaped the community as well as the long history of residents who called for social justice and for change.
