Tre MagazineTré is a community-driven magazine designed to enhance Houston’s Third Ward village by being a platform for discussion.  Each month the magazine focuses on seven key topics in the areas of business, community, education, faith, art & culture, health & wellness, and politics.  Tré strives to maintain trustworthy and meaningful relationships with its readers and has recently secured partnerships with academic institutions, faith communities, industry leaders as well as many other organizations and groups.  Tré is driven to make a positive difference and is well positioned to be ‘The Definitive Voice of Houston’s Third Ward’ community.

Position Title

Student Intern, Tré magazine

Primary Responsibilities

  • Writes copy for brochure, advertisements, magazine, letters, and internal communications
  • Develops and implements creative strategies for marketing materials
  • Assist with writing, formatting, and editing research reports
  • Creates copy and strategy for social media communications
  • Major editorial and proofreading functions
  • Assists in copyediting manuscripts and proofreading the magazine at various stages of production
  • Assisting editor in chief in ensuring the correctness of all editorial copy per the magazine's established style
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The following are desirable for job success:

  • Excellent composition, writing, grammar and communication skills
  • Synthesis and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PPT), Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe InDesign
  • Professional telephone skills and/or ability to be coached
  • Ability to handle general clerical/administrative tasks
  • Self-motivated and directed
  • Ability and flexibility to prioritize assignments, multi-task
  • Ability to work in a team environment and share tasks
  • Demonstrated attention to detail in all work projects
  • Professional appearance and attitude
