Workshops and Trainings
The Center for Diversity and Inclusion offers ten signature diversity and inclusion workshop topics each semester. Workshops aim to co-create knowledge with University of Houston faculty, staff, and students that contributes to a more inclusive and equitable campus community. All workshop sessions count as credit toward the RISE Diversity Leadership Certificate. Participants are encouraged to register for workshops.

Introductory Level
What does diversity even mean and why does it matter? This foundational workshop will explore the multiple dimensions of diversity and give participants the chance to explore how personal and cultural identities relate to their lived experiences. Everyone will leave with approaches to working effectively across differences.

Introductory Level
Diversity 201 is a continuation of our foundational workshop, Diversity 101. Through reflection of personal and cultural identities, participants will explore intersectionality and explain how those identities work together to shape our experiences.

Introductory Level
In collaboration with the LGBTQ Resource Center, this workshop was designed to educate UH students, faculty, and staff on terminology, pronouns, heteronormative privilege, and inclusive practices in support of the LGBTQIA community.
As a collaboration with the LGBTQ Resource Center, interested participants will need to register through an external link, separate from the CDI General Workshop Registration form.

People often want to talk about Race and Racism, but many have no clue what they are and their origins in the United States. This workshop will provide historical context about race and racism in the United States and their impact on American institutions and will explore the concept of being anti-racist.

Levels of Training
Introductory: Introductory courses are foundational coursework that provide definitions for concepts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. In these workshops, expertise comes from within through attendees' life experiences. No prior knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion is necessary to attend.
Intermediate: Intermediate coursework is built on the foundations provided by introductory concepts. Attendees of intermediate workshops are encouraged to have an understanding of definitions around diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as these workshops delve deeper into self-reflection, self-work, and DEI ideas and concepts that are current, evolving, and nuanced.
Advanced: Advanced learning can be explored through custom workshops and trainings for groups or in a self-reflective engagement with the Intercultural Development Inventory.

CDI offers diversity workshops for UH community members throughout the year. UH staff, faculty, and students are encouraged to utilize the form below to request custom workshops and training. Please note that the Center is not actively accepting external workshop requests from non-UH entities. Please submit your request at least three weeks in advance to provide us with enough time to create quality training that meets your needs.
