“Doing the Humanities In, With, and For our Communities”
Thursday, February 22, 2024
4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Why do we distinguish between the “public” and “academic” humanities, especially at a public university? What happens when we shift our frame of reference from divided spaces to entangled ecosystems? In this talk, Dr. Teresa Mangum, Director of the Obermann Center of Advanced Studies at the University of Iowa, discusses how students, faculty, academic staff, professional culture workers, and community organizers are working together to build vibrant, mutually sustaining humanities landscapes.
