Texas in the Spotlight: The Texas State Flood Plan

Friday, August 27, 2021

12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

About the Event

Managing disruptive challenges is critical to progress and prosperity. The Resilience Series invites conversations on recent adversities that have impacted our society with an eye towards developing long-lasting strategies to mitigate, assess, predict, protect, educate and recover from natural hazards.

In response to its greatly expanded role in flood planning after the 2019 legislative session, the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) is developing the first state flood plan for Texas that will be unveiled on September 1, 2024. The plan includes a new state and regional flood planning process with flood planning regions based on river basins. The panel discussion will focus on TWDB’s efforts in coordinating across the established 15 flood planning regions and what the State Flood Plan means for Texas and its resilience to flooding.
