Suffering and Sumud: Mental Health in Palestine

Tuesday, March 22, 2022

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Gwyn Daniel locates the trauma experienced over the generations by Palestinians within the context of settler colonial violence, injustice and dispossession. Drawing upon the ideas of liberation psychology she will describe the work of Palestinian Mental Health professionals which goes beyond the limited categories of either victimhood or resilience and emphasises solidarity and connectivity. She will share her own work in supporting a trauma team based in Gaza. Gwyn Daniel is a family therapist, trainer and writer based in Oxford and a visiting lecturer at the Tavistock Clinic in London. She is the author of many professional books and articles and she has presented and published on the subject of Palestine.
