Albert Herring (Opera)
Monday, April 12, 2021
7:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Moores Opera Center presents another live, in-person opera experience: Albert Herring with performances on Saturday, April 10th and Monday, April 12th at 7:30 PM.
Music by Benjamin Britten | Libretto by Eric Crozier.
Sung in the original English with projected text over the stage.
In a small British village, the hunt is on for a young girl innocent enough to be elected Queen of the May. When none are found, poor Albert is enlisted as May King instead, with unexpected and entertaining results. An ensemble cast of delightful English eccentrics proves that repression is rarely a good thing, and that lemonade turns out to go surprisingly well with a little rum. Come hear some of Houston’s only live, in-person opera this season!
