United States Coast Guard Cadet Kyla M. Hughley is a "First Class" or a rising senior. Her internship was part of the BTI Institute's Homeland Security Summer Internship program. Part of the internship was planning and resourcing for a medical response workshop as part of a regional response to a Complex Coordinated Terrorist Attack.

Cadet Hughley led the effort of preparing for the Medical Response workshop which focused on the emergency medical services and hospital staff involved with mass shooter incidents.

Cadet Hughley is majoring in government and international relations.
