Houston, March 26, 2018 - The University of Houston community is invited to learn more about the latest in sustainable practices while having a little fun during the upcoming Sustainability Fest. The fifth annual event, which is being organized by the UH Office of Sustainability, will take place Tuesday, April 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Butler Plaza. A number of campus and community organizations will be in attendance, engaging people through interactive activities, sustainability trivia and prizes. Among the groups that will be there is Houston BCycle, a bike-share program that will be bringing some of its bicycles and allowing people to ride them. Representatives from NASA will also be on hand with interactive energy monitoring stations. "Everyone is invited to come check out this year's Sustainability Fest and learn about the latest developments in sustainability," Office of Sustainability Manager Michael Mendoza said. "It will also be a great place for people to come and discover changes they can incorporate in their daily lives to lead a more sustainable lifestyle." Sustainability Fest will once again be a zero-waste event, in which the goal is to compost, recycle or reuse all of the materials that are generated. There will be signage showing guests how to properly dispose of their waste. The event is being held during Earth Week, which culminates on Earth Day on Sunday, April 22.
