UH Dining Hosts Kaiser Lashkari in Celebrity Chef Event

UH Dining Hosts Kaiser Lashkari in Celebrity Chef Event

Houston, Oct. 31, 2018 — Local chef, restaurant owner and University of Houston alum Kaiser Lashkari of Himalaya Restaurant will serve his favorite Indian-Pakistani dishes on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Cougar Woods Dining Commons as part of UH Dining's celebrity chef series.

Lashkari will feature recipes found on the Himalaya menu with the University community at Cougar Woods' Global Kitchen station from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. His menu will include Indian dishes, such as chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, masala dal, aloo baigan (vegetarian), and katchumber Indian salad. Menu descriptions can be found on the Himalaya website.

Lashkari received his master's degree from the Hilton College of Hotel & Restaurant Management in 1989 before opening Himalaya Restaurant & Catering. Lashkari originated from Pakistan, where he draws inspiration and care for the flavors in his food. Himalaya was rated No. 9 in the Houston Chronicle's "Top 100 Houston restaurants" list for 2018, and placed in top 15 in years past. He can be found most often in Himalaya's kitchen when he's not out greeting guests.

The event will be the third installment of UH Dining's celebrity chef series, which began this past February with James Beard Award-winning chef Hugo Ortega. In April, UH Dining hosted nationally celebrated chef Jet Tila.
