Houston, May 11, 2017 —Members of the Office of Sustainability entertained and educated Houston families about sustainability at Bayou Greenway Day on April 29. They educated guests about organic gardening with a seed-planting activity using basil and black bean seeds. They also distributed tree-planting guides and information about the UH Campus Community Garden. Bayou Greenway Day, held by Houston Parks Board, is an outdoor festival and celebration of Houston's Bayou Greenways, which connect Houstonians to parks and greenspaces. Families enjoyed free activities while exploring the hike-and-bike trails along the bayou. This year's Bayou Greenway Day was held at MacGregor Park along the Brays Bayou Greenway. In March, UH and Houston officials, including President Renu Khator and Mayor Sylvester Turner, celebrated the opening of a new segment of Brays Bayou Greenway and the groundbreaking of the University Connections Bridge, which will connect the UH campus across Brays Bayou to MacGregor Park.
