Learn More About Transition to BCBS HealthSelect at Benefits Fair

Houston, June 20, 2017 — Every year, University of Houston faculty and staff can attend the Benefits Fair to learn more about the many benefits and services available to them during the ERS summer benefits open enrollment period. This year's fair will occur prior to an important change in health care provider services and will provide employees an opportunity to learn more about the upcoming transition.

Beginning Sept. 1, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas will replace UnitedHealthcare as the health plan administrator of the HealthSelectSM of Texas health plan. Representatives from Blue Cross and Blue Shield will be on hand at the 2017 Wellness and Benefits Fair - which takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 12, in the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center - to distribute information and talk directly with UH employees enrolled in the HealthSelectSM of Texas plan who may have questions about the transition to the new provider.

"The Human Resources department strives to keep UH employees up to date on all the latest developments regarding their benefits. We encourage any employees who may be affected by this transition to attend the Benefits Fair so that they can share with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas any questions or concerns they have," said Breion Rollins, benefits and wellness manager at Human Resources.

In addition to Blue Cross Blue Shield, KelseyCare and about 50 other vendors and organizations will be at the fair to discuss services and programs available to UH employees in the areas of health, vision, finance and personal wellness.

As in previous years, this year's Benefits Fair will include a canned good drive in collaboration with Star of Hope. UH employees who attend the fair and bring a non-perishable item to donate will be entered to win a FitBit Flex. There will also be special offers and raffles to win other great prizes.

Prior to the fair, employees can find general information about the HealthSelectSM of Texas health plan administrator transition online.
