STUDENT Spotlight

Halie Reisinger

Marketing assistant

By Richard Zagrzecki

Got questions about parking at the University of Houston? Just ask Halie Reisinger.

The senior marketing major from Deer Park helps man the Parking and Transportation information table during new student orientations. There, she fields questions from incoming students and parents wanting to know everything from how to buy a parking permit to where to park.

It’s just one of many roles she juggles as one of two student marketing assistants within the Office of Administration marketing team.

Much of her work revolves around creating graphic designs to help market the programs and services offered by the various departments that fall under the Auxiliary Services and University Services umbrellas. She also helps with the various social media accounts, writing and scheduling posts and creating the graphics that go with them.

“I really love marketing and all of the creativity that goes along with it,” said Reisinger, who is minoring in human resources management.

She is on schedule to graduate in May. Her goal is to land a job in the marketing arena, preferably for a marketing firm that will allow her to apply her skills helping to market a wide variety of clients.

She’s glad she made the choice to attend the University of Houston, after first starting her college career at Texas A&M University and San Jacinto College.

“I had friends who attended UH and they told me how much they loved it,” she said. “Then one of my friends gave me a campus tour and I fell in love with it.”

She is heavily involved in the American Marketing Association and currently is a membership committee leader. She’s previously held other roles with the group, including being a philanthropy committee leader and a public relations committee leader.

She has two older sisters – one of whom lives in Finland – but is the first in her family to attend UH. She likes to visit Austin with her sister and go hiking on the trails that pepper the city’s landscape. She also likes to watch Netflix and is a big fan of the show “Stranger Things.”

What does she like best about UH?

“I would say the people. Everyone on the campus is really friendly and they just make you fit in. Especially in Bauer, because Bauer the business school is like one big family,” she said.
