Submit Sustainability-Related Works in Creative Expressions Contest

Sustainability combines social, environmental and economic aspects that challenge us to thoughtfully, justly and responsibly address the longevity and success of all living things on the planet. The University of Houston community will have the opportunity to express that philosophy in the written word or through visual works in the Sustainability Fest 2016 Creative Expressions Contest.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to submit original works to the Office of Sustainability by 5 p.m., Monday, Oct. 31. The entry must be a written or a visual art piece that addresses an aspect of sustainability. Each category (written and visual) will have a first-, second- and third-place winner, who will be awarded a $75, $50 and $25 gift card respectively. The winners will also have their pieces featured on the Office of Sustainability website and will be invited to showcase their work at Sustainability Fest on Monday, Nov. 7. Contestants must email their entries to sustainability@uh.edu.

Written pieces include but are not limited to: poetry, short stories, articles, letters and songs. Visual works include but are not limited to: photography, painting, drawing, sculpture and digital art. All entries must be original works. Participants who submit entries in both the written and visual categories cannot win more than one prize. Multiple submissions in the same category will not be considered.
